The gift of helps is defined as the ability to perceive the needs of others and act with a joyful heart to meet those needs even if it requires personal sacrifice (I Cor. 12:28).
People with this gift help increase the effectiveness of how God has created them to glorify Him by making disciples of all people groups.
They also need to be aware of the tendency to find their worth and significance in others.
